Boone NC
Sights and Sounds from the High Country
Here are some sights and sounds of the NC High Country. This video was created by Craig Distl, for the High Country Host
About Small Town Boone NC
Located in the Northwestern corner of North Carolina, the High Country is so called because it has the highest average land elevation in the Eastern U.S. The High Country is home to such recognizable towns as Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk that offer excellent mountain experiences to visitors.
An ideal location for visitors and travelers searching for a cool retreat from the stress and routine of life in the city. Temperatures are usually 15 degrees cooler than the flatlands, making it perfect for summer vacationers and skiers alike.
Over the years, our natural attractions were made more accessible and man-made attractions were created, giving vacationers many things to do and places to see. From Grandfather Mountain to Tweetsie Railroad, Mystery Hill to Linville Caverns to the Mast General Store, there is fun all year ‘round in North Carolina’s High Country.
Adventure seekers will delight in the many adrenaline-inducing activities in the High Country area. From whitewater rafting, canoeing and biking to hiking, horseback riding and rock climbing, there’s something for every adventurous soul. In the winter, the adventure is on the slopes! Area ski resorts offer thrilling ski runs, snowboarding and ice skating.
